Cuddles Marshall

Clarence Westly "Cuddles" Marshall (April 28, 1925 – December 14, 2007) was a professional baseball relief pitcher. He played all or part of four seasons in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees and St. Louis Browns between 1946 and 1950.
Marshall was born in Bellingham, Washington, and compiled a 7–7 record over four seasons; three with the Yankees, and a final campaign with the Browns. His career ERA was 5.98. Over his career, he walked 158 batters while striking out but 69.
Marshall was the Yankees pitcher to start the first night game at Yankee Stadium on May 28, 1946.〔(Cuddles Marshall at Baseball Library )〕
Known as 'Clancy' in his later years, Marshall recalled that the first batter he faced in his MLB debut was Ted Williams, whom he struck out. Marshall died in Valencia, California, at the age of 82, and was buried at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley, California.
